El Consulado Británico, junto con la Carrera de Edición de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, el IUNA y el I.E.S. en Lenguas Vivas, realizaron talleres de redacción e ilustración inspirados en la obra de Charles Dickens, dictados por dos especialistas británicos, el escritor Richard T. Kelly y el ilustrador Woodrow Phoenix, en noviembre de 2011. El objetivo final de estos talleres fue la producción en parejas de un sketch (texto corto con su ilustración) inspirado en la ciudad de Buenos Aires y su cultura, tal como los que podemos encontrar en la obra "Sketches by Boz", de Dickens. Los textos fueron curados y editados por el autor argentino Mempo Giardinelli. Esta actividad se realizó en el marco de la celebración mundial Dickens 2012. Los trabajos finales se exponen a partir del 20 de abril en la 38º Feria del Libro, en La Rural.

As part of the British Council Dickens 2012 celebrations, Richard T. Kelly and Woodrow Phoenix worked with emerging artists in Argentina to re-invent Dickens' urban observations on the streets of Buenos Aires. Using Dickens' first work as inspiration, writers and illustrators alike were invited to participate in three-day workshops with two of the UK's most interesting and engaging artists. The 'Boz'es of today were treated to a master class with UK writer Kelly, and the budding 'Phiz'es worked alongside the celebrated and critically acclaimed illustrator Phoenix. Once the sessions were completed writers and illustrators worked in pairs as the modern Dickens and Cruikshanks of today, sketching the city of Buenos Aires. Their works are exhibited at the 38th International Book Fair, in Buenos Aires, from April 20th to May 7th 2012.
